This week Carmen and her friends offered to make a photoshoot of us dressed with the traditional Valencian clothing.
The extensions are actually Carmen’s hair from when she was 8 years old. It is a tradition for women to cut their hair for the first time at their first communion. Then the hair is used every year for a special occasion called Fallas, where most of the people dress up like this. The dresses and the jewellery are very expensive…for one complete outfit, it costs about 3000 euros!
We took the pictures at Antonio’s, which is a traditional house build in the 1800s. It is very well preserved and beautiful.
On saturday we went to a charity event down town. We decided to join the 4 km race, with no experience in running. I died after 3 km and Ricky finished the race and got passed by Alex who said : “The important thing is to participate”. We had lots of fun, the energy was amazing!
On sunday, the community got together to paint the streets! They do this every year. Its a good way to get to know your neighbor!
Painting from 8pm to 1:30am is very exhausting…
